First DC Adventure (sort of)

In September, we went to the National Zoo (side note: wow, Caleb looks like a baby in those pictures!), so that was technically the first time we went “into the city” as a family. However, last week, we braved the Metro with a stroller, so that’s a real first.

Ready for an adventure on a cold, rainy day!

Maybe not so ready for a windy adventure?!

I used Keith’s point and shoot camera instead of lugging my big girl camera around the city, so a “selfie” was in order.

Outside the American Museum of History…we ate lunch in the cafeteria and then explored for awhile. I hadn’t been there in about 15 years and I couldn’t believe how things had changed! Highlights included the restored flag from Ft McHenry (when the Star Spangled Banner was written) and the First Ladies exhibit (it’s always been my favorite!).

We took a walk to see the National Tree and the White House! It’s fun to live in a metropolitan city with a lot to explore again!

The Vietnam Monument had the beautiful wreaths laid out.

Our little hobo baby had a good, long nap in the umbrella stroller. We managed to sneak the hat on his head; he HATES wearing hats. Fun fact: the scaffolding was twice as high a few weeks ago! Yay for monument restoration.

McFamily adventures!

Still sleeping in the Lincoln Memorial.

Love that I can still take some artsy photos with a little camera. No need for a big camera for being touristy!

Korean Memorial; I love the art part of it. So emotional and fitting.

It was a fun adventure and we can’t wait to check out more! I grew up going into D.C. at least once a year, so it’s fun for me to experience the city as an adult and Keith hasn’t done most of the touristy things, so it’s a great experience!
